I love this time of year. The Days are still very warm and the nights are cool. You can sleep and yet still swim in the pool during the heat of the day.
The Evenings are such that I can bring out my crock pot again and make wonderful Stews and Soups for dinner. Last Night we had Butternut Squash Soup with Fresh Baked Buns. UMMMM.
The Summer is quickly coming to a close, The Pool area has had the toys put away until Next Year, but I am still swimming most days. I have kept out the Adult floating chairs! They will not go away until we close down our Pool for the season.
The HOT TUB has been turned up for those cool evenings that we need some extra relaxation!
The Linens on the beds have been changed out from the summer weight covers to the Incredibly warm down comforters! OH I love snuggling up in them and keeping warm while the cool air comes through the windows at night.
The fire places are being cleaned up for another winter of sitting in front of them. Hot chocolate must be added to the grocery list for our next shopping out.
OH I love the fall and at the Guest House we ensure that all our guests enjoy the seasonal change too. Each season is unique, but I think Fall is especially beautiful.
Drop in for a Day, Week or Month and enjoy Fall with us at The Guest House

SUNDAY AUGUST 2, 2009
Today was a great day - we decided to drive out to Abbotsford to Birchwood Dairy again and take Jenny & Stella. We first stopped in at Wall mart to pick up a purse for Stella's Mom and then we headed out down 16th Avenue to Abbotsford. We turned RIGHT on Bradner road and continued down. Down a hill we saw some gorgeous ponds and thought what a nice place - as we turned the corner we saw that it was a Trout farm. The girls had never been fishing so we decided to stop in thinking we would catch our token fish. The big pond was a bust so we moved over to the smaller fish pond. Our Stellar catcher - Stella caught 7 of the 9 almost one after the other. John could not keep up. I caught 2. So we came out with 9 fish for 5 people. I called my fisherman father to confirm how to cook them and then we carried on to Abbotsford. The dairy was hot but a great short stop. After our ice-cream we headed home and I got the wonderful job of CLEANING our fish. Stella was thrilled. I stuffed them with fresh lemon and butter & pepper. We also picked up some fresh Corn on the cob for our dinner. John BBQ'd them at about 10 minutes per side. WOW were they ever amazing. We had a great day and I would definitely go again!

Stella, Jenny & Thomas (5 from Australia) Playing in the water
SUNDAY - JULY 26, 2009
Once again the sun was shining and they day was bright with possibility. We decided to take our 2 young South Korean girls (Jenny & Stella [10 yrs old]) and our Guests from Australia (Michael, Cynthia & Thomas [5]) out for a wonderful Sunday Drive.
We started out over the Alex Fraser Bridge and drove down South West Marine Drive out past UBC stopping once to get pictures of the view south looking at Vancouver Island.
We continued down past a VERY packed Spanish Banks and up to Queen Elizabeth Park. parking was great and the park not very crowded. We had a short walk and took some amazing pictures of the view of Vancouver and the Mountains then as it was a scorching hot summer day we took the children over to the fountain. OK - so it took a whole 2 minutes for them to climb in and have an amazing half an hour dodging the water. Eventually they decided to just stand in it. They had a great time and what the heck - it is just water anyway.
The ride home was quick and painless not one complaint about being all wet. They were all sitting on plastic bags. That will teach me not to leave the house without some sort of beach towels. Jenny explained on her way back to the car that this was one of her best days ever - she had never been in a fountain with her clothes on in South Korea. Canada is pretty nice.
Everyone had a great day.
