The Guest House Surrey is Booking up VERY Quickly for Spring / Summer

 The Guest House is Starting to take firm bookings for the Spring / Summer. If you are considering staying with us - don't wait too long before you book your accommodations.

 The Twin Beds (2) Bedroom is booked all of April 2010.

We still have openings for the other 2 bedrooms & the Master Suite is free & clear.

The Master Suite is available for 1 Week Bookings. The Rustic Cabin Bedroom (Middle) has a few weekly blocks open and the Country Blue Bedroom (top) has a couple of openings. 

Please complete our ON-LINE REGISTRATION FORM found on the web site and a quote will be sent you you within 24 hours. Depending on your length of stay and month of booking either 100%, 75% or 50% will be due at the time of booking and remainder will be payable upon arrival.

July 2009 - Full House

Full House - July 2009

July 2009 was the busiest so far on record for The Guest House.

June 20 - Jason & Trevor joined us for 1 month

June 28 - Alvaro arrived from Madrid - 1 Month

July 4 - Mansur, Nasim, Moez & Faizil arrived from Toronto for 2 weeks

July 5 - Johnson & Rita arrived from Taiwan for 3 Weeks

July 24 - Jenny & Stella Arrived from South Korea for 3 Weeks

July 25 - Michael, Cynthia & Thomas arrived from Australia for 6 days (Short stop before heading to Toronto then on to Germany for many weeks of fun)

As you can see we had the pleasure of meeting so many wonderful people this month from all over the globe. Our Guests bring lots of interesting stories and new ideas to the table and it is interesting to watch how they all intermix with each other.

The Summer of 2009 - Heat Wave!

Summer Heat in Vancouver

The heat, Oh - the Heat. I am not one to complain about the sunshine, but OK - I have had enough hot sunny days in a row! (JUST KIDDING).

I think it rained (really rained) in May sometime. since then, Vancouver has been hit with a Heat Wave. It makes swimming wonderful, but cooking not so much fun.

The direct sunshine on our patio most days is anywhere from 35 to 40' C. The shade - if you can call it shade away from the direct sun is around 30'.

The wind is warm (Just like California) and sometimes - at night - if you are lucky - you can feel a cool breeze.

If you are planning a trip to Vancouver within the next little while - Pack light and bring lots of sun screen - you are going to need it.

I have not seen many mosquitoes, but I am sure they are around - so bring your bug spray too.

Other than that - enjoy your time here and pull up a chair and drink a few cold ones while listening to your tunes!

VANCOUVER BEACHES - SUMMER IS COMING!

VANCOUVER, BC BEACHES

One of the natural amenities which makes our city among the most livable in the world is public access to the waterfront. Almost 18 km (11 mi) of beaches surround Vancouver including ten expansive ocean side locations and one fresh water lake. Enjoying waterfront access can take many guises: observing the beautiful landscape while cycling, walking or driving by; playing in the sand, swimming, windsurfing, sailing or merely sitting. We have special areas that have been cordoned-off for swimming, ensuring maximum lifeguard coverage. Lifeguards are on duty from Victoria Day until Labour Day from 11:30 am to 9:00 pm (except when red light is on).

Enjoy our designated "quiet beaches" (Locarno, Spanish Bank West and Sunset Beach), where amplified music is prohibited.

Our Trip to White Rock, BC - June 29, 2008

Catching local Crab - too bad they are too small to eat!

On one of the hottest days ever recorded in Vancouver, BC we decided to take our Homestay Student (Kevin) to White Rock. He also invited his girlfriend Shirley to join us.


It was so hot that even the water lapping the shore was like a bath. The little fish swam around our feet and Kevin & Shirley gathered shells and went crab hunting. We would have been there for hours, but after a few we all were feeling the heat.


We walked along the shops and stopped for an ice-cream & drinks.


Kevin had wanted to see the Pacific Ocean and it was our Pleasure taking him there. Our other student Deni had decided he wanted to go to Stanley Park with a group of his school buddies. He also had an amazing day. He was surprised to see all the wild animals wandering around and he also dipped his toes into the Pacific Ocean.
